Why is there an 'Extra Fee' in my basket, and what is it?
What is the 'Extra Fee' being applied to my basket?
The 'Extra Fee' is a fixed charge applied to all orders under £125+VAT in product value, which covers the costs of setting up for the small quantity.
Why is an 'Extra Fee' applied to my shopping cart?
Historically we have not always manufactured small quantities of product, but recognise it is unfair to offer no service to potential customers just because they require smaller quantities.
In short, we cant offer the product at the same price on small quantites, therefore the 'Extra Fee' is actually a factory set up charge to produce the small batch.
While we offer very competitive pricing, our price points are achieved by offsetting the factory 'set up' for an order against the quantity being ordered. However, this means where the quantity is not enough to make any offset we must make an additional charge to cover the associated set up costs to prevent a loss making scenario.
While the majority of customers will be unaffected, this model restricts our ability to manufacture and deliver small quantites at the same price, without making this charge - or 'Extra Fee'.
What is the threshold for the 'Extra Fee'?
The extra fee is applied to all orders under £125+VAT product spend:
Previously orders under £125+VAT product spend could not be placed, however adopting this policy of applying an 'Extra Fee' to orders under the £125+vat product threshold allowing customers to continue to order small product volumes, without them being detrimental to Skirtings R Us moving forward.
Can the 'Extra Fee' be removed?
Yes, the 'Extra Fee' is removed on shopping carts over £125+VAT product spend. Please make your order value up to this in order to remove it. Unfortunatly it cannot be removed on product values below this for the above reasons.
Will the extra fee be waived if I've ordered before and need further items?
Unfortutatly a further set up for the new, small requirement (and its associated costs) still exists regardless of previous orders. This cost must be passed on, as we did not price for a second set up on the original order, which we would of added on had we known it would be required.
We always recommend the most efficient way of ordering is to order everything for delivery in one go, taking full advantage of our quantity discounts, as ordering in small quantities will be more expensive.
If you require products seperate deliveries to a project, these will need to be made as seperate orders, but we recommend customers consider the set up charge, which is signposted, when planning their orders for the best economy.
Can you remove the 'Extra Fee' if I call or e-mail the office to raise a small order?
Unfortunatly there is still a set up to be made, so our software has been built to automatically apply on both the consumer facing 'front end' of the website and agent facing 'back end'. Therefore our office staff will not be able to remove the 'Extra Fee'.
